Serves 2–4
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 to 1.5 pounds Venison or Elk
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
Using a sharp knife cut venison or elk strips less than 1-inch wide. Rotate the meat and cut into small bite-size pieces. Season the meat lightly with salt and pepper. In a small bowl combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, garlic powder and salt. Add the breadcrumb mixture to a plastic bag and add the meat. Seal the bag and shake until all pieces are coated with the mixture. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the oil. Working in batches to avoid over crowding the skillet, add some of the breaded steak bites to the oil cooking until golden brown about 2 minutes. Remove from oil and set aside on a plate. Continue cooking the remainder of the meat until done.
Serve as an appetizer, serve with mashed potatoes and gravy or serve over spaghetti. ~Enjoy
