Every Meal Tells a Story

I didn’t grow up in a family of hunters or outdoorsmen. I never went fishing, camping, or considered harvesting an animal for food. Then, at an early age, I met a hunter who introduced me to a world I never knew existed. I was hooked. Over the next decade, we explored Nevada’s back roads, photographing sunrises and sunsets, learning to cast a fly rod, clean a fish, spot-and-stalk, and respect the land and its animals.

I’ll admit, I’m not a trained culinary chef, nor a professional huntress. I’m simply an everyday woman who loves taking the time to showcase the harvests we are fortunate to share with family and friends.

Over the years, I fell in love with cooking everything from elk, venison, and pronghorn antelope to duck, goose, pheasant, quail, and other small game. I especially enjoyed introducing wild game to friends and neighbors who had never tried it and often believed it would be too ‘gamey’ to enjoy. I began documenting my recipes years ago, searching for inspiration in books, magazines, and online. Many recipes I found were repetitive, bland, or overly complicated. After all, there are 365 days in a year — preparing dinner every day can feel overwhelming.

Through years of cooking big game, upland game, and waterfowl, I developed wild game recipes that rely on simple steps and everyday ingredients. My hope is that these recipes inspire you to experiment, adapt, and share the passion and respect for every harvest brought home to your table. At the end of the day, there’s something truly special about enjoying a home-cooked wild game meal and sharing it with family and friends.
